Ferdinando: the first "specialized" artificial intelligence for Naples and Campania is available on the web and in digital stores.

It's called Ferdinando , like three of the most famous Kings of Naples: it's the first generative digital assistant trained exclusively on Naples and Campania , capable of answering any question about the area's history, culture, food and wine, itineraries, and curiosities with precision, depth, and passion. After a lengthy training and testing phase, it's now available on major digital stores and online. Born from an idea by digital storyteller Federico Quagliuolo , Ferdinando is an LLM who in recent months has trained on a unique corpus made available by Storie di Napoli : an archive with over 4000 articles written and reviewed by professionals in the history, tourism and dissemination sectors . "Ferdinando," Quagliuolo explains, "was created because we are aware of the power of generative artificial intelligence, but at the same time we are also aware of its major limitation: it is imperfect. There are no tools specifically trained, with precision and quality, on regional content. Ferdinando, thanks to the extraordinary amount of selected, high-quality information it can draw from, is thus becoming one of the first AI-based apps in Italy that is effectively encyclopedic on a given region."
Ferdinando was born from an " ethical vision of storytelling" shared by three young, passionate, and locally rooted organizations: Storie di Napoli (the largest grassroots regional cultural promotion initiative in Italy, with over 300,000 followers on social media and 10 million readers per year), the creative agency Gialoswitch, and the tech startup Efesto Dev. Leading the app's development is Neapolitan Giovanni Nastro, a former student at the Apple Academy in San Giovanni a Teduccio. "Communicating," explains Dario Striano, founder of Gialoswitch, "means conveying emotions, responsibility, and ethics, not just chasing the latest trends. Ferdinando was born from this vision and the joint work of three companies that believe in these values and infuse them into every story they tell. It demonstrates that collaboration, driven by creativity and values, can create a future here, where our roots are deeply rooted. With Ferdinando, we wanted to combine technological innovation and love for our land."
Ferdinando doesn't just respond: it recommends, guides, and makes reservations. New features will be introduced every month: from booking public transportation to hotels to restaurant tables. And precisely because it recognizes the limitations of AI, it won't rely on anonymous algorithms: Ferdinando, just like a sovereign, will have its own network of human ambassadors— content creators , recognized experts, specialized organizations—who will select venues, experiences, and products according to rigorous criteria: quality, locality, transparency, and work ethic.
Totally freeThe app is completely free and there are no subscriptions for end users. It is currently available in English, Italian, and classical Neapolitan, but will soon be translated into other European languages and Chinese.
"With the knowledge placed at his disposal, Ferdinando takes on a completely different role than that of a tour guide: he's a reliable companion who knows everything—and absolutely everything—about Campania. And he won't stop there: our goal is to bring this model to every region of Italy," Quagliuolo concludes.
